About Us

Salem Fence Co., Inc., was established in 1969 by Vincent Bellissimo, Sr., in The Bronx, New York. At that time, chain link and stockade fence were the most popular styles of fence being installed in New York City and Westchester County. In 1974, he opened a yard in Shrub Oak, New York and ran both locations until 1982. He then decided to focus on Westchester and Putnam counties due to the growing need for fencing. In the mid 1980’s, his sons, Vincent Jr., and Chris worked as installers and in 1991 they decided to start manufacturing and installing their own Wood Fencing. To do this, they would need a larger facility and moved the operation to Mahopac, New York. By manufacturing their own wood fence, they were able to control the quality of the product and lead time, giving their customers the finest product in a timely manner. In 2003, Vincent Jr., and Chris Bellissimo started a Wrought Iron division in order to facilitate the growing needs of homeowners with wrought iron fencing and railings as well as automated gate systems—Westchester Automated Gate, LLC was then formed—the automated gate division of Salem Fence Co., Inc.Once again, in 2006, they had outgrown their location and moved to the present location, a 10,000 square foot facility on three acres in Baldwin Place, New York. Here they fabricate and install all types of wood fences and gates, Wrought Iron Fence, Entrance Gates, Railings, Vinyl, Aluminum, and Chain Link fencing for any need.A professional staff of office personnel, experienced installers, skilled craftsmen, ironworkers and service technicians can handle any size project that is presented to them. FAQ's

Hot-dip galvanizing is the process of placing iron in a molten zinc bath. The zinc acts as a barrier for the iron so the steel underneath the zinc will remain protected.  This innovative process of galvanizing is a deterrent for rust, thus making it low maintenance and in little need of repainting throughout its lifespan.

While tubular steel will be less expensive, it will not last as long or be as durable as solid steel.  Tubular steel will flex and will not be as rigid as solid steel.

It is much stronger than aluminum or vinyl when used to construct a railing. With wrought iron we have endless styles to choose from and the possibility to custom create any design.
